“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including  Anthony IannarinoDave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

Periodically moving forward we will feature a new B2B sales, marketing or business leader here answering what have become the standard “How I Work” questions.  You can catch up on everyone we’ve featured thus far in the “How I Work” series here.

This week I’m excited to feature Emmanuelle Skala, VP of Sales for Influitive – the leading platform for helping companies mobilize and monetize their most passionate advocates.  Emmanuelle has a long history of successful sales management roles at companies including Oracle and Intel.

Emmanuelle, suffice it to say, gets stuff done.  Here in her own words is how she does it.

Location:  Boston MA, Toronto ON, San Francisco CA and wherever else I need to be

Current computers: MacBook Air and iPad

Current mobile devices: iPhone 6S

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? GoogleApps, LastPass, InsightSquared, Salesforce.com, Influitive AdvocateHub, LinkedIn,

What’s your workspace like? I work out of 2 different offices – both at a desk in an open environment surrounded by my team.  If I’m not there, I’m on an airplane, a starbucks, a hotel or at a customer’s office

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or lifehack? I group like tasks together to minimize task switching as much as possible (easier said than done).  1:1s all on 1 day, team calls all on one day, etc.  It’s easier said than done – but it does allow you to get into a groove with one type of task at a time.

What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else? Figuring out how to fit something into every 15minute block I have…I waste no time. I cut everything pretty close – but I’m never late.  I take calls or listen to podcasts when I’m commuting, I arrive at the airport 30min before my flights so I can board immediately, I wake up at 5:45 for 6:00am workouts.  I hate wasting time.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager? Old fashion pen & paper – there is something cathartic about physically crossing stuff off the list.  I have a very small notebook that I use to keep my to dos

What do you listen to while at work? We have music always on at work – I don’t usually pick the channel (the reps do) so I get stuck to listening to whatever they want.  It varies considerably.

What are you currently reading? Just about to start “when breath becomes air”.  Just finished “10% Happier” and “The Advantage”

What’s your sleep routine like? wake up 5:45 to workout 6am-7am and go to sleep by 10pm.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? It IS possible to have it all – just not all at the same time.

Anything else you want to add? I don’t work weekends and I don’t work from 7-9pm (when I’m home) – it’s important to have boundaries where you focus on family, friends, and yourself.  I’ve also learned to not feel guilty about getting enough “me-time” -it makes me a better mother, wife and VP.

Fill in the Blank: I’d love to see BLANK answer these questions. Any female CEO of a tech company with kids
