“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including  Anthony IannarinoDave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

Periodically moving forward, we will feature a new B2B sales, marketing or business leader here answering what have become the standard “How I Work” questions.  You can catch up on everyone we’ve featured thus far in the “How I Work” series here.

This week I’m thrilled to feature Keenan.  He needs little to no introduction, nor does he need a first name.  Keenan is a prolific author, speaker, motivator, instigator….and a world-class ski instructor to boot!

Keenan is an amazing guy, full of energy and fresh ideas to help salespeople succeed.  Suffice it to say, Keenan gets stuff done.  Here in his own words is how he does it.

Current computers: Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch

Current mobile devices: 1 IPhone 6+

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? I hate to say it but, email.  Can’t live without email. Then all mobile apps:  Twitter, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, Slack, Quickbooks (ya gotta get paid), Hubspot, cause, they pretty much own us now. Oh yeah, can’t forget Canva. Canva is killer.

What’s your workspace like? A mess! I travel so much, it’s a pain to keep uncluttered. It’s a single desk, with a Veridesk adjustable standing desk and a Mac Thunderbolt display.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or lifehack? Outsource, I’ve started looking for more and more ways to outsource everything. We used to do all the video editing of our stuff at ASG (A Sales Guy) but now we have and editing company do it. I’m going to look to outsource more and more. If we can get more done through other people, that’s a good thing.

What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else?  Everyday thing?  Hmmm?  I’m not sure I know what you mean by “everyday” thing, but if I’m guessing, I’ll say breaking down problems and asking questions. I take a great deal of pride in trying to get to the root of a problem then fixing and solving it. We recently did a survey of past and present clients and when asked what are greatest value was, the answer was overwhelmingly, our unique approach to solving problems, our creative approach to getting things done, our ability to see things differently and our ability to get them to get “unstuck.”

What’s your favorite to-do list manager?  That’s a rather assumptive question. It assumes I have a to do manager. LOL!  I’m terrible with lists. But if I absolutely want to remember something or do something, it’s a tie between Siri and apple reminders and Evernote.

What do you listen to while at work?  Sales Pump playlist on Spotify.  J  You can listen too, it’s awesome!

What are you currently reading? Abundance, and Jill Konrath’s New Book, More Sales Less Time

What’s your sleep routine like?  You guys and your assumptive questions.  LOL.  I don’t have a routine. Sometimes late nights, sometimes early nights. I go to bed when I’m tired and wake up without an alarm clock, 80% of the time.  Usually around 4:45 am.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Move to Colorado and ski Vail, forget about Killington. And, don’t become a politician, build a career, be your own man, then your political career won’t be your job, and you won’t need to win and election in order to make a living.  I chose these two, because they created the biggest changes in my life.  I almost moved to VT instead of Colorado and I was tracking to run for office. The people and advice they gave fundamentally changed my life.

Anything else you want to add?  Yes, don’t pay attention to anything I write here, or anyone else. Build your own life, your own story, your own career. Too often people look outward for what I call silent permission.  Don’t look for permission, just do. You’re mind and heart know what they want, you just have to listen.

Fill in the Blank: I’d love to see BLANK answer these questions. Donald Trump!
