Trending now: 3 social media trends I’m excited about
By Rachel Degginger, Marketing Consultant at Heinz Marketing
Just as social media is becoming more prominent in our day-to-day life, it too is more and more an integral part of an integrated marketing plan.
It seems like a new trend emerges every day.
How are you supposed to wade your way through with SO many features available? Well, to start, here are 3 trends I’m excited to start using more frequently.
1. Instagram QR codes
One of Instagram’s more recent features makes it much easier to find an account– using QR codes. Using this in additional marketing materials to connect with your social media creates a streamlined integration for your audience. Along with that, utilizing this QR code at events with some type of promotional work is an amazing event strategy and a great way to drive social media engagement.
2. The rise of the Reel
Traditionally the mix of audio and visual content in a shortened format, reels are here to stay. As social media platforms work to compete with TikTok, reels are being more frequently used across platforms. Short form video content was already on the rise, but these platforms will continue pushing it more and more. It also creates easily digestible, easy to follow content for your followers to enjoy.
3. TikTok as a marketing channel
In September 2021, TikTok surpassed the 1 billion user mark, which made it the 7th most popular social media network in the world. Between 2018 and 2020, the global user base grew by 1,157%. As mentioned above, short form video is here to stay, and TikTok is dominating the market. TikTok has begun to introduce business features such as business profiles, ads, and a creator marketplace for products. I expect these offerings to expand as the number of businesses grow.
As social media continues to grow, so do the options of features and trends you can utilize in your integrated marketing strategy. By being able to pivot and adapt to this ever-changing age of social media, you can stay ahead of the trends, and create a successful and engagement social media strategy.
