Lisa’s App of the Week: Qeepsake

Summary

For busy parents (aren't we all!?), Qeepsake is an app that uses text messaging to store memories about your kids.

Qeepsake

If you’re a busy parent of small children, you may be like me and have empty baby books sitting on a shelf from when your little ones were first born (my kids are 7 and 5!). You had all the best intentions of filling them up with memories and photos from those precious first years, but life (and keeping those little kids alive!) got in the way.

That’s where Qeepsake comes in. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this app when I did. Because of this, there is still hope for my baby books yet!

Whether your baby is days, months, or even years old, Qeepsake enables you to “effortlessly create an heirloom of unforgettable memories, easily, privately, and securely.”

How it Works

The great thing about it is you don’t have to remember to add entries. It will prompt you with simple, age appropriate questions for each kid you created a journal for. And the questions are often things I wouldn’t think of capturing, but I will no doubt appreciate having these memories down the line. Things like:

  • What activities does [name] like to do these days?
  • Does [name] have a best friend(s)?
  • Do you have a birthday tradition you do with [name]?
  • What makes [name] laugh?
  • Is there an expression that [name] says right now that cracks you up?
  • What is [name]’s favorite bedtime story?

Qeepsake will save your entries to your child’s journal, and then you can add images within the app, too. From there, you have the ability to just save your journal digitally, or order a beautiful Qeepsake book. I have grand plans of translating all my Qeepsake Journal entries into my baby books – but we’ll see how many more years it takes me to do that!

Where it Started

According to their site, it was created by parents, Stephanie & Jeff McNeil. “When our first was born, we envisioned journaling every precious moment. But we soon realized how difficult it was to stay disciplined. So we created Qeepsake for ourselves, and now we’re excited to share it with the world.”

Since then, they brought the idea to ABC’s Shark Tank in 2017, and have gone on to save over 10 million memories for parents!

Plans and Features

They have a variety of plans to choose from, ranging from the free version with one question per week, to Qeepsake Premium at $7.99 per month. That one gets you the whole set of features:

  • Up to 4 questions per day
  • Answer previous questions
  • Add your spouse/partner
  • Text in photos
  • Upload unlimited photos to the website
  • Order a Qeepsake book
  • Spontaneous entries
  • And the ability to backdate journal entries.

If nothing else, we can’t let memories like this escape us—what else will we embarrass them with at their wedding?!
