“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including Anthony Iannarino, Dave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

This week I’m really excited to feature Peter Isaacson, chief marketing officer for Demandbase. Despite his University of Colorado education (go Huskies!), Peter has enjoyed a highly successful marketing career with companies such as Adobe, MicroStrategy, Castlight Health and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Under his leadership, Demandbase has become a leader in the account-based marketing (ABM) movement, having launched the ABM Certification program earlier this year among numerous other marketing leadership and demand generation efforts.
Peter, suffice it to say, gets stuff done. Here in his own words is how he does it.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Waze (for commuting), Pandora, Google Maps, Vivino (take a picture of a wine’s label and it tells you the price), Nike Running, Politico, CBS Sports
What’s your workspace like? We work in an open office environment. I have a 4 X 2 desk just like every other person at Demandbase. At any given time there are 20 pieces of paper, 2 red bulls, and a coffee mug
What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack? I’m still working on trying to create the 25 hour day
What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else? Some people know a lot about a lot, some people know a lot about a little, I know a little about a lot. Translation, I’m really good at trivia
What’s your favorite to-do list manager? I’m on the outer edges of “P” in the Myers Brigg personality score, which means I’m not a list guy
What do you listen to while at work? The chatter of our sales development representatives (a.k.a. the bro-row)
What are you currently reading? “The Harder They Come” by TC Boyle
What’s your sleep routine like? I need 7 hours and I wake up early to go for runs, which means I’m in bed early
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? There are two pieces of advice: 1) Go into advertising 2) Get out of advertising
Anything else you want to add? I’m a transplanted New Yorker who has turned his back on all things NYC except for my dysfunctional sport teams
