“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including  Anthony IannarinoDave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

Periodically moving forward we will feature a new B2B sales, marketing or business leader here answering what have become the standard “How I Work” questions.  You can catch up on everyone we’ve featured thus far in the “How I Work” series here.

This week I’m really excited to feature Elizabeth Fairleigh, an independent but absolutely outstanding PR professional.  She’s one of the best I know, and has generated significant results for her clients nationwide.  I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on numerous content projects, and have been impressed at how much she juggles and gets done in short order.

Elizabeth suffice it to say gets stuff done.  Here, in her own words, is how she does it.

Location:  Atlanta, GA

Current computers:  HP True Vision laptop  –  getting a new laptop soon!  This one is 4 years old and will soon become my daughter’s.  I also have a second monitor by Samsung so I can toggle back and forth between projects.  I love it and am totally addicted to having two monitors!

Current mobile devices:  iPhone 5c, Samsung GalagyTab3

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?  ACT, Buffer, Fitbit, Snapfish

What’s your workspace like? My office is in my sunroom overlooking my back deck with lots of windows –  I have several birdfeeders in eye shot and love watching them.  As I work at my computer or talk on the phone.  My walls are mint green with a light yellow trim and I am  surrounded by frogs including an aquarium with three fire belly toads.  My daughter’s amazing art work is hung everywhere along with a frame pieced of artwork from a dear friend, titled, “Amazing Grace.”   My black Manx cat Cookie is usually in my office sleeping or watching the birds and squirrels at eye level.  Lately he’s taken to sleeping under the rug.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or lifehack? I use a payroll service, which saves a ton of time and hassle when filing quarterly and year end taxes – It’s a huge relief to delegate that task and well worth the modest investment so I can focus on client work, not accounting.

What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else?  I am incredibly resourceful and work well with minimal direction.  I am also intentional and tenacious about what I want to accomplish and have the ability to see the big picture as well as drill down granularly.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager? ACT!  It keeps me sane and I’d be lost without it – Have used ACT! for 30 years – I also keep a day runner as I like to write things down as well as schedule to-dos in ACT!   Seeing my week at a glance on paper helps me prioritize and gives me the incentive to say no sometimes.  Time is at a premium, and I am getting better at this.

What do you listen to while at work?  Birds chirping and wind chimes.

What are you currently reading?  The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd – It’s set in Charleston, SC, my home town, before the Civil War and is based on a true story about the Grimke sisters.  We’ve come a long way since then!

What’s your sleep routine like? I am a night owl and tend to stay up until 12:30pm most nights – I like to get 6 – 7 hours to feel rested, but I can rally with less.   I am a great sleeper and have been known to steal a 20 minute cat nap on occasion.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever receivedAlways look up, not horizontally

Anything else you want to add?  Trust God Completely.

Fill in the Blank: I’d love to see BLANK answer these questions.  Gini Dietrich, Chris Brogan and Dan Pink
